A Rubber Chicken in Space Science Education & Outreach*
NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory is our latest eye on the Sun, every few seconds taking high resolution images of our Star. We are able to observe, study and learn about the Sun with the goal to do better Space Weather prediction. NASA’s Mission Mascot Camilla Corona SDO travels the country talking about the Sun, Space Weather and why we need to inspire our girls and boys to be better at STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). And who wouldn’t believe a rubber chicken who has visited the Edge of Space, works with Astronauts, teachers, parents, even Governors and Military Generals?
Bio: Camilla Corona SDO is NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory’s mascot. She actively helps with Education and Public Outreach, visits class rooms, science festivals, fairs and space exhibits to teach about the Sun, space weather and space exploration. She might be the world’s first chicken to have a blog – find her online at: http://camilla-corona-sdo.blogspot.com/
*Camilla is an Educational Mascot…and she’s a chicken. So of course, she can’t really talk. Romeo Durscher will be speaking on her behalf. THIS IS A TALK YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS!
